Network vendor Extreme Networks has introduced an AI application for IT operations. Agent ONE Coworker is integrated into the Extreme Platform ONE platform and is designed to help administrators with diagnostics, knowledge access, and support.

US-based network vendor Extreme Networks (NASDAQ: EXTR) has introduced an AI-powered application for network operations, according to the company. Agent ONE™ Coworker is part of the company’s Extreme Platform ONE and is aimed at IT administrators who monitor networks, resolve issues, and handle support cases.

According to the company, the application draws on context from real-time telemetry, network topology, user, device, and application data, and policy information. On this basis, administrators are meant to be able to ask questions in natural language, such as why Wi-Fi is slow in a given building or which devices show elevated latency, without manually correlating data across multiple dashboards.

Extreme Networks divides the application into four functional areas. “Talk to Data” is meant to let administrators query network data by typing questions instead of navigating dashboards; the company cites faster decision-making, reduced investigation effort, and greater operational visibility as intended outcomes. “Talk to Knowledge” draws, according to the company, on more than 30,000 knowledge base articles and product documentation, so administrators can get technical guidance without leaving their workflow; among the effects the company names is onboarding accelerated by up to 50 percent.

“Nudge” is designed as a proactive notification feature: it is meant to independently detect and flag anomalies, optimization opportunities, and security risks before they affect operations. According to Extreme Networks, this is intended to reduce unnecessary alerts and improve operational reliability. “Talk to Support” automates, per the company, the process of gathering diagnostic information when a support case is opened and is meant to speed up access to solutions from the company’s own Global Technical Assistance Center (GTAC), since support engineers have context from the outset.

A fifth component, root-cause analysis across telemetry from users, devices, applications, and network infrastructure, is claimed by the company to resolve incidents up to 15 times faster than previous approaches, reduce mean time to repair (MTTR), and cut manual troubleshooting effort. Independent verification of this comparison figure is not available.

The offering is rounded out by Extreme Exchange, a marketplace through which, according to Extreme Networks, organizations can obtain additional AI skills, applications, integrations, and partner solutions for the platform. The company states the goal is faster adaptation to changing business needs and a shorter path to productive use of new capabilities.

The announcement also includes a comment from an outside industry observer: Andrew Spivey, who oversees ABI Research’s competitive rankings for enterprise WLAN infrastructure vendors, is quoted offering a favorable assessment of the underlying platform. He notes that Extreme Platform ONE was built for AI use from the ground up, which he says unifies analytics and telemetry functions across multiple layers of the network.

Extreme Networks explicitly distinguishes Agent ONE Coworker from generic AI chatbots, saying the application is closely tied to the telemetry and configuration data of its own platform, while users, according to the company, retain control over automated recommendations.
