Hamburg-based software vendor NovaStor is integrating support for Proxmox Virtual Environment into its NovaStor DataCenter backup platform. The feature, available from early July, enables agentless VM backups and granular restores for heterogeneous IT environments.
NovaStor is expanding its central backup and recovery platform NovaStor DataCenter with native support for Proxmox Virtual Environment (VE). The new capability will first be available in an Early Access program starting in early July and will be generally released at the end of July.
The move addresses the growing interest in Proxmox as an alternative virtualization platform. Many organizations are currently reviewing their virtualization strategies and require backup solutions that can consistently protect mixed IT environments. NovaStor DataCenter already supports VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, Nutanix as well as Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Exchange and major databases.
The Proxmox integration includes agentless virtual machine backups, support for entire clusters and individual hosts, and granular file-level recovery options. Existing backup policies remain fully compatible. The feature is included in the standard license.
NovaStor DataCenter allows data protection to a wide range of targets – from disk and tape to cloud and S3-compatible object storage. A single management console is intended to reduce administrative overhead and ensure consistent processes across diverse infrastructures.
The company, headquartered in Hamburg, develops and supports its solutions entirely in Germany. CEO Stefan Utzinger stated that many companies are rethinking their virtualization approaches. The Proxmox support is designed to enable smooth transitions or parallel operations without creating additional backup silos.
The Proxmox integration will be rolled out to all NovaStor DataCenter customers by the end of July, further strengthening compatibility with open and alternative virtualization platforms.
