USU is restructuring its international sales operations. Effective June 1, 2026, Melanie Abt has assumed the role of Chief Sales Officer (CSO), heading the software company’s global sales organization.

As part of its ongoing international expansion and strategic realignment, the USU Group is expanding its executive management team with a key leadership position. Effective June 1, 2026, Melanie Abt was appointed Chief Sales Officer (CSO), taking full responsibility for the global sales organization. By introducing this role, the Moeglingen-based software company intends to create closer organizational synergies between sales, marketing, product development, and customer success. This integration aims to adapt to market requirements more rapidly and provide users with practical solutions in the fields of digitalization, automation, and service management.

Abt brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in international software sales to her new role. Prior to joining USU, she held various management positions at major technology firms, including SAP, ServiceNow, Volue, and most recently Aquant. Her professional focus lies in building and structurally developing international sales organizations. Additionally, she contributes specialized expertise in core areas such as IT Service Management (ITSM), Knowledge Management, IT Asset Management, and managing complex cloud transformations.

A strategic priority for the new CSO will be supporting clients in highly regulated industries and the public sector. Within the European market, USU traditionally positions itself as a provider that ensures high data protection standards, transparency, and technological independence. Leveraging her experience in these sensitive market segments, Abt is expected to help expand the software company’s market presence and assist clients in executing their digitalization strategies.

At the core of the future sales strategy is the transition from traditional software licensing models to cloud and SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) architectures. Upon taking office, Abt emphasized that her work would center on the sustainable expansion of the global sales organization. Transforming business models in the software industry requires close partnership with clients and partners to deliver long-term value creation and a measurable return on investment (ROI). Modern leadership methodologies and data-driven processes are intended to support this transition internally.

Executive leadership has tied clear strategic objectives to the appointment. Dr. Benjamin Strehl, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of USU, highlighted the necessity of accelerating the provider’s international growth and deepening client support across the entire value chain. Given the rising demand for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud management solutions, an experienced leader is considered crucial to meeting client requirements accurately and securing measurable project success in a competitive global market.
