Effective May 2026, Frederik Hammes will become managing director of game events GmbH. Stephan Reichart, who has led the company since 2019, will support the transition until August 2026.

Frederik Hammes will assume the role of managing director of game events GmbH from May 2026. He succeeds Stephan Reichart, who has chosen to step down.

Hammes brings more than 20 years of experience in the games industry, including a previous position as managing director of Travian Games. To ensure continuity, Reichart will continue to support the new managing director until the end of gamescom dev in August 2026.

game events GmbH, a subsidiary of game – The German Games Industry Association, organises gamescom dev and the German Computer Game Awards. gamescom dev will be held for the first time under its new name this year and forms part of the wider gamescom programme.

Felix Falk, Managing Director of game – The German Games Industry Association, thanked Reichart for his long-standing contribution: “Stephan Reichart is a veteran of the German games industry who has played a key role in shaping the conference landscape.”

Reichart commented: “It has been an honour to contribute to devcom – now gamescom dev – since 2017 and to lead the team at game events GmbH since 2019. I am grateful for the support of our shareholders and colleagues. The events are well positioned for the future under Frederik’s leadership. From October I will focus on new projects.”

Hammes added: “This year gamescom dev is launching in a new format with closer integration into gamescom. I look forward to working with the team to develop the conference further.”
