Die Messe markiert einen Meilenstein für den Kontinent: Mit der Initiative „Choose Europe“ sollen gezielt Talente, Forschung und Innovationen gestärkt werden. Deutschland untermauert diesen Anspruch mit seiner neuen Regierung und dem ersten Digitalministerium. Berlin, das sich längst als internationaler Hotspot für Gründer und Tech-Pioniere etabliert hat, präsentiert sich damit als Bühne für ein neues digitales Selbstbewusstsein Europas.

Zur Eröffnung kamen hochrangige Vertreter aus Politik und Wirtschaft: Unter ihnen waren Berlins Regierender Bürgermeister Kai Wegner, die VAE-Ministerin für Unternehmertum, Ihre Hoheit Alia Al Mazrouei, der Parlamentarische Staatssekretär im Bundesministerium für Digitales und Transformation, Clara Chappaz, Ministerin für KI und Digitales aus Frankreich, Thomas Jarzombek, der stellvertretende tschechische Minister für Industrie und Handel, Jan Kavalírek, Berlins Wirtschaftssenatorin Franziska Giffey sowie die Veranstalterin Trixie LohMirmand vom Dubai World Trade Centre. Sie alle hielten eine Eröffnungsrede.

Ein Höhepunkt war der Auftritt von Dr. Geoffrey Hinton, amtierender Nobelpreisträger für Physik und Pionier der künstlichen Intelligenz. Er hielt eine inspirierende Keynote über KI als Schlüssel zur Lösung globaler Herausforderungen.

Mit 500 Top-Speakern und 600 Investoren bietet das Event eine Plattform für strategische Diskussionen über Innovation, Investitionen, politische Weichenstellungen und unternehmerischen Wandel und schafft Raum für internationale Kooperationen in großem Stil. Die Messe wird in Zusammenarbeit mit der Berliner Senatsverwaltung für Wirtschaft, dem Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz, Berlin Partner und dem European Innovation Council (EIC) veranstaltet.

Die GITEX wurde ursprünglich in den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten (VAE) gegründet und zählt heute zu den weltweit führenden Veranstaltungen für Technologie und Start-ups. Der Schritt nach Europa ist nicht nur geografisch, sondern auch politisch bedeutsam: Die VAE intensivieren ihre globalen Innovationspartnerschaften. Zu den wegweisenden Projekten gehören der KI-Investmentfonds MGX aus Abu Dhabi und eine Kooperation mit Nvidia zum Bau des größten KI-Rechenzentrums Europas – ein Vorhaben, das außerhalb der USA einzigartig ist.

The trade fair marks a milestone for the continent. The „Choose Europe“ initiative aims to strengthen talent, research, and innovation. Germany is supporting this initiative with its new government and the first digital ministry. Berlin, which has long been an international hub for startups and tech pioneers, is presenting itself as a stage for Europe’s new digital confidence.

High-ranking representatives from politics and business attended the opening: Among them were Berlin’s Governing Mayor, Kai Wegner; the UAE Minister for Entrepreneurship, Her Highness Alia Al Mazrouei; the Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transformation, Clara Chappaz; the French Minister for AI and Digital Affairs, Thomas Jarzombek; the Czech Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade, Jan Kavalírek; Berlin’s Senator for Economic Affairs, Franziska Giffey; and Trixie LohMirmand, the organizer from the Dubai World Trade Centre. Each of them gave an opening speech.

A highlight was the appearance of Dr. Geoffrey Hinton, the current Nobel Prize winner in physics and artificial intelligence pioneer. He delivered an inspiring keynote speech on AI as the key to solving global challenges.

Originally founded in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), GITEX is now one of the world’s leading technology and startup events. Its move to Europe is significant not only geographically, but also politically, as the UAE is strengthening its global innovation partnerships. Pioneering projects include the AI investment fund MGX from Abu Dhabi and a collaboration with Nvidia to build the largest AI data center in Europe — a project unique outside the U.S.
