Swiss value-added distributor BOLL Engineering AG is expanding its cybersecurity portfolio: as the official distribution partner of U.S.-based vendor Halcyon, BOLL will now distribute ransomware protection technologies across the DACH region. Channel partners in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland will gain access to a technology designed to restore encrypted data without paying a ransom.
Ransomware ranks among the most consequential cyber threats facing organizations in the DACH region today. Conventional endpoint solutions are increasingly struggling to keep pace, as modern attacks specifically target encryption mechanisms that bypass traditional defenses. BOLL Engineering is addressing this gap by expanding its portfolio: the Wettingen-based distributor has signed an official distribution agreement with Halcyon, securing exclusive distribution rights for the DACH market.
Halcyon specializes in ransomware protection through a distinct approach. Rather than simply detecting and blocking attacks, its technology focuses on intercepting the encryption keys used during an attack. In the event of a breach, organizations can recover encrypted data directly – without falling back on backups or paying a ransom.
“Organizations across the DACH region face sophisticated ransomware threats and require specialized protection beyond traditional endpoint security.” – Simon Haylock, Director of EMEA Channels, Halcyon
Enablement Program for Channel Partners
A central element of the partnership is the enablement offering BOLL will provide to its existing and future partners. Beyond product access, partners will receive targeted training and support to actively build and grow their ransomware protection business. BOLL plans additional accompanying activities that extend beyond standard product distribution.
“Halcyon addresses what is arguably the most significant IT security risk today – ransomware – with a disruptive technology. By intercepting encryption keys, organizations can recover encrypted data directly, without ransom payments or lengthy backup restores.” – Patrick Michel, Product Portfolio Manager, BOLL Engineering
Strategic Alignment Between the Two Companies
BOLL Engineering was founded in 1988 and has evolved from a regional IT security distributor into a full-service cybersecurity specialist with operations in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. The value-added approach – combining product distribution with technical advisory services and partner development – was cited by Halcyon as a key factor in selecting BOLL as its distribution partner.
“BOLL’s value-added approach and commitment to partner enablement align with the mission to combat ransomware. Together, we will equip channel partners across the region with the technology and expertise to protect their customers against this evolving threat.” – Simon Haylock, Halcyon
Neither company disclosed the financial terms or duration of the distribution agreement. The partnership took effect immediately.
