Since April 28, 2026, the EU directive on the unified USB-C charging port has also applied to laptops. TD SYNNEX is supporting sales partners with its “Power Supplier” campaign in meeting the new requirements in the accessories business.
Under the EU legal requirement, USB-C becomes the mandatory charging port for a range of electronic devices, including laptops. At the same time, the directive permits the sale of devices with or without a power adapter. According to the European Commission, the goal of the regulation is to reduce electronic waste and establish uniform charging solutions.
For sales partners, resellers and system integrators, this creates immediate action items: laptops are increasingly shipped without a power adapter, while a USB-C port alone does not guarantee uniform charging performance. Factors such as wattage, Power Delivery support and cable quality need to be specifically considered. According to TD SYNNEX, missing or unsuitable charging solutions lead to customer inquiries, complaints and dissatisfied end customers in daily business.
Michael Bublitz, Team Leader Peripherals Endpoint Solutions at TD SYNNEX Germany, comments: “The new USB-C regulation is noticeably changing the offering around laptops. Accessories are becoming an integral part of every solution rather than being treated as an optional add-on. Our goal is to give partners the orientation they need so they can combine devices and accessories precisely and offer their customers complete, functioning solutions.”
Against this backdrop, TD SYNNEX is bundling manufacturers, products and information under its “Power Supplier” campaign to support partners in implementing the new requirements. According to the company, partners sourcing through TD SYNNEX benefit from a targeted preselection of manufacturer portfolios, clear guidance on complex USB-C requirements, and simplified assembly of matching complete solutions. The combination of accessories, expertise and structured information is intended to reduce consulting effort, lower error rates and unlock additional revenue potential in the accessories business.
As part of the campaign, TD SYNNEX is working with several manufacturers that cover different focus areas within USB-C charging and connectivity solutions, together intended to represent as broad a portfolio as possible, according to the company.
The Berlin-based brand Delock offers charging and connectivity solutions for the workplace, home and travel, ranging from docking stations and hubs to a modular system of power adapters, charging cables and adapters. According to the manufacturer, the range of combinations allows different end devices to be charged with a single power adapter, which is intended to save costs and reduce electronic waste.
StarTech.com provides compact GaN power adapters as well as USB-C cables with up to 240 watts of Power Delivery, including USB-IF certified models. The offering is supplemented by guides, online resources and support from technical advisors intended to help partners select suitable charging solutions. According to the manufacturer, the focus is on compliant and reliable power supply, which is only achieved through the combination of a suitable power adapter and a matching Power Delivery cable.
Targus addresses the segment with its Hyper brand, which includes GaN-based charging and connectivity solutions. In addition, the Empower partner program supports sales partners with tools, incentives and marketing resources; an accessory finder is intended to simplify the selection of compatible products and reduce the risk of incorrect purchases.
According to TD SYNNEX, the new legal framework represents not only an implementation effort for partners but also an opportunity for the accessories business: as laptops are increasingly sold without a power adapter, part of the margin shifts toward accessories. However, this requires partners to be able to competently advise customers on topics such as wattage, Power Delivery standards and cable quality in order to avoid follow-on issues such as complaints.
