Now, on to the interview with the creator!
- What inspired you to create the adult visual novel Celina’s Calling?
I’ve always been fascinated by creative storytelling and the vibrant communities built around adult visual novels. With the rise of AI tools, I finally found a way to bring my ideas to life without being held back by technical limitations. Celina’s Calling started as a passion project—a mix of storytelling, art, and interactivity that offers more than just erotic content. Beneath the surface, I want to explore deeper themes and emotional connections, creating something that feels meaningful while still being fun and sexy.
- What were your sources of inspiration (books, movies, games, TV, or other artists)?
There are countless great stories that blend drama, fantasy, and sensuality—shows like Spartacus and Game of Thrones, and games like The Witcher have all been huge inspirations. I also draw a lot from the Skyrim modding community; the creativity and passion there are unmatched. Plus, I’ve followed the work of other indie adult game creators for years. Seeing the level of effort and artistry in this space really motivated me to create something that contributes to that same culture.
- Did you have any prior programming experience, and what tools did you use?
I have an engineering background and dabbled in basic coding back in college, but I wouldn’t call myself a programmer. Luckily, modern tools make it easier than ever to turn ideas into reality. I primarily use RPG Maker MZ for the game framework, along with AI-powered tools for art and animation. These advancements allow me to focus on creativity and storytelling instead of spending years mastering complex programming languages.
- You created a game that excels in AI art and animation. How did you achieve such excellence?
I came from the Skyrim modding community, where collaboration and knowledge-sharing are everything. That same spirit exists in the AI art community. I spent months learning, experimenting, and setting up all the open-source tools on my system so I could generate custom images and animations. Communities like r/ComfyUI on Reddit and platforms like Civitai have been incredible for learning and getting support. It’s a mix of persistence, curiosity, and leveraging the amazing resources this community provides.
- Do you hope to earn a decent income from your game, and do you see it as a possible full-time job?
Definitely! Compared to my day job, this is where my real passion lies. If enough people enjoy what I create and want to support it, I’d love to turn this into a full-time career. At first, sharing my work publicly was intimidating—but the feedback and encouragement I’ve received so far have been incredible. If I can keep growing and building games that resonate with players, I’d happily dedicate myself to this full-time.
- What are your plans for developing your game?
Celina’s Calling is just the beginning. While it’s an adult visual novel, I want it to be more than that—I want to tell a story that feels engaging and emotionally impactful, something that draws players in beyond the erotic elements. There’s also a metafictional twist I’m really excited about that will make players feel like they’re part of the story in a unique way.
As for the future, I’m already planning a sequel—Celina’s Calling 2 (working title)—that will expand on the world and the themes I’m introducing in this first game. There’s so much more I want to explore in terms of character development, emotional stakes, and branching narratives. To everyone supporting me: thank you. Your encouragement makes Celina’s Calling possible, and I can’t wait to share more of this journey with you.
