Die SAP SE will sicherstellen, dass Kunden bestmöglich von der Cloud profitieren, auch im Zeitalter von KI. Das starke Cloud-Wachstum von SAP in den letzten drei Jahren, zusammen mit der Entwicklung einer branchenweit führenden, hochmodularen Cloud-Suite, schafft nun die Voraussetzungen für die nächste Stufe an Innovationen und Relevanz.

Mit Wirkung zum 1. April 2024 wird ein neuer Vorstandsbereich geschaffen, um das weitere Wachstum und die Einführung von Cloud-Lösungen bei Kunden zu gewährleisten. Dieser Vorstandsbereich, geleitet von Thomas Saueressig (38), soll Kunden schneller in die Lage versetzen, kontinuierliche Innovationen in der Cloud wertschöpfend zu nutzen. In Folge wird Muhammad Alam (46) als Nachfolger von Thomas Saueressig in den Vorstand des Unternehmens berufen und die Verantwortung für die Produktentwicklung der SAP übernehmen.

Neuer Vorstandsbereich konzentriert sich auf die Übernahme von Innovationen in der Cloud

Ab 1. April 2024 wird der neue Vorstandsbereich Customer Services & Delivery bereitstehen, um Kunden bei ihrer Cloud-Transformation zu unterstützen und die Kundenzufriedenheit weiter zu steigern. Der neue Vorstandsbereich soll sicherstellen, dass Kunden Innovationen schnell übernehmen und nutzen, die Vorteile der Cloud vollständig erschließen und so den Wert des integrierten SAP-Portfolios voll ausschöpfen können. Saueressig – seit 2019 im SAP-Vorstand – wird den neuen Vorstandsbereich leiten und damit seine ganze Erfahrung einbringen, die er in den letzten fünf Jahren erfolgreich bei der Transformation der SAP-Produktentwicklung, der Neuausrichtung des Portfolios und der Bereitstellung kontinuierlicher Innovationen gesammelt hat.

Engineering und Innovation oberste Priorität für neues Vorstandsmitglied 

Als Nachfolger von Thomas Saueressig und mit Wirkung zum 1. April 2024 wird Muhammad Alam in den Vorstand des Unternehmens berufen.

Alam startete am 31. Januar 2022 bei SAP als President und Chief Product Officer für das Intelligent Spend and Business Network. In dieser Funktion leitet er die Engineering- und Designteams mit den Schwerpunkten Beschaffung, Reise- und Spesenmanagement, externes Personalmanagement und das SAP Business Network. Vor seiner Tätigkeit bei SAP war Alam 17 Jahre lang bei Microsoft tätig, zuletzt als Corporate Vice President of Product and Engineering für Microsoft-Dynamics-365-Geschäftsanwendungen.

Effective April 1, 2024, a new Executive Board division will be created to ensure continued growth and customer adoption of cloud solutions. This division, to be headed by Thomas Saueressig (38), will enable customers to leverage continuous innovation in the cloud for faster time to value. As a result, Muhammad Alam, 46, will succeed Thomas Saueressig on the Executive Board and assume responsibility for SAP’s product development.

New Executive Board division to focus on driving innovation in the cloud

As of April 1, 2024, the new Customer Services & Delivery division will be ready to support customers in their cloud transformation and further increase customer satisfaction. The new Executive Board division will ensure that customers can quickly adopt and leverage innovation, take full advantage of the cloud, and realize the full value of the integrated SAP portfolio. Saueressig – a member of the SAP Executive Board since 2019 – will lead the new Executive Board division, bringing with him all the experience he has successfully gained over the past five years in transforming SAP product development, realigning the portfolio and delivering continuous innovation.

Engineering and innovation top priorities

Muhammad Alam will succeed Thomas Saueressig on SAP’s Executive Board effective April 1, 2024.

Alam joined SAP on January 31, 2022, as president and chief product officer for the Intelligent Spend and Business Network. In this role, he leads the development and design teams focused on procurement, travel and expense management, contingent workforce management, and the SAP Business Network. Prior to joining SAP, Alam spent 17 years at Microsoft, most recently as corporate vice president of product and engineering for Microsoft Dynamics 365 business applications.
