Proofpoint has expanded its Data Security Posture Management and Data Access Governance capabilities in Europe. The solutions are hosted in the Frankfurt data center and support identification of sensitive data in several European languages.
Proofpoint has expanded its Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) and Data Access Governance functions in Europe. The enhancements include AI-supported data identification and classification in the main European business languages as well as hosting in the Proofpoint data center in Frankfurt am Main.
European companies are increasingly adopting artificial intelligence and need to understand in complex cloud environments where sensitive data is located, who can access it, and how it is used. Proofpoint’s AI and Human Risk Landscape Report 2026 shows that 42 percent of companies have already recorded a confirmed or suspected AI-related security incident.
To address this, Proofpoint is extending its AI-supported functions for data identification, classification, Data Access Governance, and remediation to English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian. Companies can thereby identify sensitive and business-critical information independently of language.
In addition, Proofpoint is expanding its library of EU-specific data classifiers. These now include personal identifiers, passport numbers, tax identification numbers, mobile phone numbers, and postal addresses, covering all EU countries. Cross-platform classifiers and policy frameworks support the transfer of DSPM insights into Data Loss Prevention. The system automates the creation of DLP policies and protects sensitive data continuously.
Together with local hosting and service delivery from the Frankfurt data center, these functions help meet European data residency requirements. Companies retain visibility, governance, and control over their sensitive information.

The expansions enable companies to better adapt to regulations such as the EU AI Act. The solution matches detected data risks with recommended governance and compliance controls. Security and compliance teams can thereby assess and reduce risks associated with sensitive data and AI use.
With DSPM now available from Proofpoint’s Frankfurt data center, European companies can access the full Data Security Platform with integrated local data residency. The platform links data identification and classification with Access Governance, Data Loss Prevention, AI data security, and Insider Risk Management. The functions cover cloud, SaaS, endpoint, email, and on-premises environments. Security teams thus obtain a direct path from identifying at-risk sensitive data to initiating appropriate measures.

With the expansion of DSPM functions and hosting in Frankfurt, Proofpoint will provide European companies from August 2026 with additional tools to detect sensitive data in multiple languages and better meet local and regulatory requirements.
