With a new strategic partnership, Dematic is integrating GreyOrange’s AI software to boost distribution efficiency through hardware-agnostic coordination.
Dematic has announced a strategic partnership with GreyOrange to integrate the AI-based GreyMatter platform into its automation ecosystem. By utilizing hardware-independent connectivity, the system enables real-time optimization and increased transparency in complex warehouse operations.
The technology serves as an overarching control layer that integrates various systems—from stationary automation to autonomous mobile robots (AMRs)—with manual workflows. A key advantage of this approach is its hardware independence. This allows different types of robots and existing systems to be coordinated within a unified network, which increases transparency in the warehouse and enables real-time process optimization.
A Sector in Transition: Efficiency as a Response to Labor Shortages
This collaboration comes at a time when the logistics industry faces critical challenges. Warehouse logistics in 2025 is defined by acute labor shortages, massive cost pressures, and the need for resilience against global supply chain disruptions. As labor shortages remain a primary bottleneck, solutions that improve ergonomics and support workers through technology are becoming essential. With customers demanding faster delivery and full transparency, flexibility has become the new standard. The integration of AI, as pursued by Dematic and GreyOrange, is no longer just a trend but an economic necessity to lower per-unit costs and minimize error rates.
