Pocketalk: Übersetzung auf Knopfdruck – Pocketalk: Instant Translation

Die Verwaltung erfolgt über die Ventana Device Management Console. Sie erleichtert die Nutzung und Verwaltung einer Flotte von Pocketalk-Geräten, indem sie die Gruppierung von Geräten, die Zuweisung von Teams nach Standorten und die Deaktivierung fehlender und/oder gestohlener Geräte ermöglicht. Mit Echtzeit-Analysen verstehen Sie, wie die Menschen in Ihrem Unternehmen kommunizieren, indem Sie Daten und Berichte abrufen. Pocketalk wird vom 8. bis 10. April 2025 auf der DMEA Startups & Innovation Area in Berlin vertreten sein.

Christoph Janeba, General Manager Germany and Business Development @Pocketalk, ist seit Juli 2023 im Amt. Er ist verantwortlich für das Geschäft in Deutschland, aber auch in anderen europäischen Ländern. Er erklärt: „Wir bieten KI-basierte Übersetzung an, sowohl auf kleinen, integrierten Geräten, die autark funktionieren, als auch im Softwarebereich. Wir arbeiten im Bildungsbereich, mit Schulen, mit Behörden, mit Ämtern, mit Krankenhäusern, mit Logistikunternehmen. Es ist also wirklich ein sehr breites Anwendungsfeld, auch in Bereichen, die hohe Sicherheitsanforderungen haben.“

Janeba fährt fort: „Wir bieten ein kleines Gerät an, den Pocketalk. Dieser Pocketalk funktioniert ganz einfach: Wenn man den Knopf drückt und auf Deutsch spricht, kommt es in der anderen Sprache heraus, wenn man den Knopf loslässt. Man muss keinen Account einrichten, man packt das Gerät aus, schaltet es an, es kommt, alles inklusive. Im Gegensatz zu einem Smartphone ist alles auf dem Gerät gekapselt. Das Gerät hat keine weitere Zugriffsmöglichkeit für Apps, man kann nicht auf die Daten auf dem Gerät zugreifen und das Gerät ist verschlüsselt.  Was uns von vielen anderen Anbietern unterscheidet, ist, dass wir eine Intelligenz haben, welche Sprachkombination mit welchen Sprachmodellen am besten funktioniert.“

Ein Return-on-Investment-Rechner soll den Kunden auf einfache Weise ihr Einsparungspotenzial aufzeigen.

Janeba weiter: „Auch die Cloud, in der die Übersetzung stattfindet, ist verschlüsselt und dort haben wir unser Backend. Es ist standardmäßig so eingestellt, dass das, was dort übersetzt wird, nicht für Lernzwecke verwendet wird, nicht gespeichert wird und immer verschlüsselt bleibt. So können wir auch mit Krankenhäusern oder Behörden zusammenarbeiten, die relativ hohe Sicherheitsanforderungen haben und eben nicht wollen, dass die Leute ihre privaten Handys benutzen oder andere Apps, die es zum Download gibt.“

Janeba setzt auf den Channel: „Wir haben im Bildungsbereich sehr gute Erfahrungen mit Vertriebspartnern gemacht und ich bin aktiv auf der Suche nach neuen Partnern. Wir arbeiten bereits mit großen Distributionspartnern und IT-Integratoren zusammen, die sehr versiert sind und uns viel abnehmen können.“

Ventana Device Management Console simplifies the deployment and management of a fleet of Pocketalk devices by allowing you to group devices, assign teams by location, and deactivate missing and/or stolen devices. With real-time analytics, you can understand how people in your organization are communicating by accessing data and reports. Pocketalk will be exhibiting at the DMEA Startups & Innovation Area in Berlin from April 8-10.

Christoph Janeba, General Manager Germany and Business Development @Pocketalk, has been in office since July 2023. He is responsible for business in Germany as well as other European countries. He explains: „We offer AI-based translation, both on small, integrated devices that work autonomously, and in the software sector. We work in the education sector, with schools, with authorities, with government agencies, with hospitals, with logistics companies. So it really is a very broad field of application, even in areas that have high security requirements.”

Janeba continues: „We offer a small device, the Pocketalk. This Pocketalk works very simply: you press the button and speak in English, and when you release the button, it comes out in the other language. You don’t have to set up an account, you unpack the device, turn it on, it comes out, all inclusive. Unlike a smartphone, everything is encapsulated on the device. The device is not accessible to applications, you can’t access the data on the device, and the device is encrypted.  What sets us apart from a lot of other vendors is that we have the intelligence to know which language combination works best with which language models.”

A return-on-investment calculator is designed to show customers their savings potential in a simple way.

Janeba continues: „The cloud where the translation takes place is also encrypted, and that’s where we have our backend. It is set up by default so that what is translated there is not used for learning purposes, is not stored, and always remains encrypted. That means we can also work with hospitals or government agencies that have relatively high security requirements and don’t want people using their personal cell phones or other apps that are available for download.“

Janeba relies on the channel: „We have had a very good experience with channel partners in the education sector and I am actively looking for new partners. We are already working with large resellers and IT integrators who are very experienced and can do a lot for us.”
