CompuGroup Medical brings Thorsten Herrmann on board — a veteran IT executive with prior leadership roles at Oracle, Microsoft, and HP Enterprise. The new Managing Director is set to drive the e-health group’s German business forward.

CompuGroup Medical (CGM), one of the world’s leading e-health companies headquartered in Koblenz, Germany, has appointed Thorsten Herrmann as Managing Director for the German market effective April 1, 2026. The move sends a clear signal: the home market is not just to be maintained but developed strategically — led by a man deeply rooted in Germany’s IT business landscape.

Herrmann’s career trajectory is impressive. After graduating with a degree in business information systems, he began his professional journey at IBM, gained extensive leadership experience at Compaq, and spent 14 years at Hewlett Packard Enterprise — progressing from sales director to managing director and ultimately VP SAP Business Worldwide. He then spent over six years at Microsoft Germany as General Manager for the enterprise business. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President Technology and Country Leader Germany at Oracle.

CGM CEO Prof. Dr. Daniel Gotthardt sees in Herrmann exactly the profile the company needs: “Thorsten Herrmann brings extensive experience from international technology corporations. His deep understanding of technology and sales processes will help us anchor CGM’s innovative, AI-powered solutions more rapidly in the day-to-day reality of our customers.”

Herrmann himself is enthusiastic: “The company holds a unique position — its systems for doctors, dentists, hospitals, and pharmacies have set the benchmark for years.” He wants to work with his team to meaningfully ease the daily burden on healthcare professionals so they can deliver better patient care. His stated commitment to close, direct dialogue with customers signals a hands-on leadership style.

In his new role, Herrmann takes responsibility for all customer segments of CGM’s German business — from general practitioners and dentists to hospitals, pharmacies, health insurers, and the industrial segment. It is a complex field requiring both sales expertise and a nuanced understanding of the German healthcare system.

The appointment comes against a backdrop of transformation at CGM. In fiscal year 2025, the group generated revenues of €1.213 billion, up five percent year-on-year (2024: €1.154 billion), with organic growth of five percent after a three-percent decline the prior year. Recurring revenues rose three percent. EBITDA declined to €195 million (down eleven percent), primarily due to higher R&D investment and one-time transaction costs. The workforce remained stable at around 8,700 employees.

For fiscal year 2025, the company proposes a dividend of €0.50 per share — a dramatic increase from €0.05 the prior year, subject to shareholder approval at the Annual General Meeting on April 17, 2026.

Strategically, CGM is advancing on three fronts. In the AIS segment (physician information systems), the cloud platform CGM ONE is being expanded with AI-powered services. In the HIS segment (hospital information systems), the CGM CLINICAL Suite is the centerpiece, including the SAP IS-H successor solution CGM CLINICAL RCM. In the PCS segment, the cloud-based pharmacy software CGM STELLA is driving pharmacy digitalization.

For fiscal year 2026, CGM expects low-to-mid single-digit organic revenue growth and a slight improvement in the cash EBITDA margin. Herrmann steps into his role at a pivotal moment for German healthcare digitalization. His blend of technology, sales, and digital transformation expertise is precisely what CGM needs for its next chapter.
