QNAP Systems and CyberLink Corp. have expanded their existing collaboration to cover photo and media production workflows. QNAP is now the official storage partner for CyberLink applications PhotoDirector and PowerDirector. Content creators gain a local storage solution that can replace cloud subscriptions while providing full control over their data.
Partnership Focused on Local Data Control
QNAP Systems and CyberLink Corp. are broadening their cooperation: QNAP is now the official storage partner for CyberLink products PhotoDirector, PowerDirector, and PowerDVD. The goal is to streamline media production workflows by combining AI-driven creative software with local network-attached storage (NAS).
For content creators, this means a practical change: users of the three CyberLink applications can now run their media storage on a QNAP NAS. This removes the dependency on cloud services with recurring subscription fees. Photos, videos, and project files are stored, managed, and backed up locally, under the full control of the user.
Statements from Company Representatives
Vincent Lin, President of CyberLink Corp., emphasized the value of the partnership for creative users, noting that combining editing tools with reliable storage gives users full control over their content as their libraries continue to grow.
Jack Liou, General Manager of QNAP, pointed to the shared history in video and AI technologies, adding that extending the partnership into photo and media production is intended to provide content creators with a private storage environment where they can focus on creating.
Technical Background
QNAP NAS systems function as private cloud infrastructure within a home or office network. They provide access to media files across multiple devices without transferring data to external providers. CyberLink’s PhotoDirector and PowerDirector rely on AI-assisted image and video editing that benefits from fast, direct storage access – an area where NAS solutions may offer advantages over cloud services in response times and availability.
