Mostaghim leitet Fraunhofer IVI – Mostaghim to head Fraunhofer IVI

Die renommierte Expertin für Künstliche Intelligenz ist seit 2014 Universitätsprofessorin am Lehrstuhl für Computational Intelligence der Fakultät für Informatik der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg (OVGU). Zu ihren Forschungsschwerpunkten gehören insbesondere multikriterielle Optimierung, Entscheidungsfindung und evolutionäre Algorithmen sowie kollektive Intelligenz und Schwarmrobotik.

Vor ihrem Wechsel an das Institut für Intelligente Kooperative Systeme der OVGU war Mostaghim unter anderem als Akademische Rätin am Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) tätig. 2014 ehrte die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) die Wissenschaftlerin, deren Forschungsprojekte sie unter anderem an die Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne und die Yale University führten, mit der DFG-Heisenberg-Professur für Intelligente Adaptive Systeme.

Professor Holger Hanselka, Präsident der Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, zeigte sich zufrieden: »Ich freue mich sehr, dass wir mit Professor Mostaghim eine sehr renommierte Wissenschaftlerin für die Leitung des Fraunhofer IVI gewinnen konnten. Prof. Mostaghim betonte: »Verkehr und Infrastruktur sind im Zeitalter von KI, Digitalisierung und Klimawandel die zentralen Themen der Zukunft. Die Forschungsthemen des Fraunhofer IVI zur Entwicklung von Schlüsseltechnologien in diesem Bereich spielen daher eine führende Rolle bei nachhaltigen Innovationen für unsere Gesellschaft und Wirtschaft. Das Fraunhofer IVI hat ein sehr stabiles und erfolgreiches Profil und ich freue mich, diese Forschungsarbeit mit meinen aktuellen Themen aus dem Bereich der Computational Intelligence zu ergänzen. Dazu gehören KI-basierte Optimierung und Entscheidungsfindung, adaptive und kooperierende intelligente Systeme, Schwarmintelligenz, menschzentrierte KI sowie intelligente Planung und Prozessoptimierung«.

The renowned expert in artificial intelligence has been a university professor at the Chair of Computational Intelligence at the Faculty of Computer Science at the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg (OVGU) since 2014. Her research focuses on multi-criteria optimization, decision making and evolutionary algorithms, as well as collective intelligence and swarm robotics.

Before joining the Institute for Intelligent Cooperative Systems at OVGU, Mostaghim worked as an academic advisor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). In 2014, the German Research Foundation (DFG) awarded the scientist, whose research projects have taken her to Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne and Yale University, among others, with the DFG Heisenberg Professorship for Intelligent Adaptive Systems.

Professor Holger Hanselka, President of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, expressed his satisfaction: „I am delighted that with Professor Mostaghim we have been able to attract a very renowned scientist to head the Fraunhofer IVI. Prof. Mostaghim emphasized: „Transportation and infrastructure are the central topics of the future in the age of AI, digitalization and climate change. Fraunhofer IVI’s research topics for the development of key technologies in this area therefore play a leading role in sustainable innovations for our society and economy. The Fraunhofer IVI has a very stable and successful profile and I am pleased to complement this research work with my current topics in the field of computational intelligence. These include AI-based optimization and decision making, adaptive and cooperating intelligent systems, swarm intelligence, human-centered AI, and intelligent planning and process optimization.
