In seiner neuen Rolle will Luebben den deutschen und österreichischen Markt weiter entwickeln und Unternehmen bei der Einführung datengetriebener Geschäftsmodelle begleiten. Cloudera setzt dabei auf das Konzept der Private AI – ein Ansatz, bei dem Unternehmen KI-Anwendungen auf der eigenen Infrastruktur betreiben und selbst bestimmen, wo ihre Daten liegen und wie sie genutzt werden.

Makris übernimmt Zentral- und Osteuropa einschließlich Schweiz

Nektarios Makris, seit 2022 bei Cloudera und bislang für die Schweiz verantwortlich, erweitert seinen Aufgabenbereich auf Zentral- und Osteuropa. Der in Genf ansässige Vertriebsexperte bringt 15 Jahre Branchenerfahrung mit, unter anderem aus Tätigkeiten beim Schweizer Unternehmen SpotMe sowie bei MakOptimus Web Solutions.

Makris sieht digitale Souveränität als zentrale Anforderung europäischer Unternehmen, nicht mehr nur als strategischen Wunsch. In seiner Rolle als Regional Vice President für Central and Eastern Europe will er Kunden dabei unterstützen, KI-Anwendungen regelkonform und auf eigener Infrastruktur zu betreiben – ein Ansatz, der angesichts verschärfter europäischer Datenschutzanforderungen an Bedeutung gewinnt.

Franzini verantwortet neu geschaffene Großregion

Yari Franzini, der bislang die Region Südeuropa leitete, übernimmt als Group Vice President eine neu definierte Gesamtverantwortung für South, Central & Eastern Europe. Damit bündelt Cloudera mehrere Märkte unter einer regionalen Führungsstruktur. Franzini verfügt über umfangreiche Erfahrung aus Führungspositionen bei Oracle und HPE sowie sieben Jahren in verschiedenen Vertriebsfunktionen bei EMC, wo er nach einer Karriere als Managementberater tätig war.

Personalentscheidungen als Signal für Marktprioritäten

Die Neubesetzungen folgen einem erkennbaren Muster: Cloudera stärkt gezielt jene Regionen, in denen regulatorische Anforderungen an Datenhaltung und KI-Nutzung besonders ausgeprägt sind. Der europäische Markt steht mit Blick auf den EU AI Act und die DSGVO vor einer Phase erhöhter Compliance-Anforderungen – ein Umfeld, in dem Angebote rund um Private AI und hybride Dateninfrastrukturen an strategischem Gewicht gewinnen.

Mit der Zusammenfassung von Süd-, Zentral- und Osteuropa unter einer gemeinsamen Führungsstruktur schafft das Unternehmen zudem eine organisatorische Grundlage, um Ressourcen und Marktbearbeitung stärker zu koordinieren.

In his new role, Luebben aims to further develop the German and Austrian markets and support companies in implementing data-driven business models. Cloudera is focusing on the concept of Private AI—an approach in which companies run AI applications on their own infrastructure and determine for themselves where their data is stored and how it is used.

Makris Takes Over Central and Eastern Europe, Including Switzerland

Nektarios Makris, who has been with Cloudera since 2022 and was previously responsible for Switzerland, is expanding his responsibilities to include Central and Eastern Europe. The Geneva-based sales expert brings 15 years of industry experience to the role, including stints at the Swiss company SpotMe and MakOptimus Web Solutions.

Makris views digital sovereignty as a core requirement for European companies, no longer merely a strategic aspiration. In his role as Regional Vice President for Central and Eastern Europe, he aims to support customers in operating AI applications in compliance with regulations and on their own infrastructure—an approach that is gaining importance in light of stricter European data protection requirements.

Franzini takes charge of newly created major region

Yari Franzini, who previously led the Southern Europe region, will assume overall responsibility for South, Central & Eastern Europe as Group Vice President. With this move, Cloudera is consolidating several markets under a single regional leadership structure. Franzini brings extensive experience from leadership roles at Oracle and HPE, as well as seven years in various sales functions at EMC, where he worked following a career as a management consultant.

Hiring Decisions as an Indicator of Market Priorities

The new appointments follow a clear pattern: Cloudera is strategically strengthening its presence in regions where regulatory requirements for data storage and AI usage are particularly stringent. With the EU AI Act and the GDPR on the horizon, the European market is facing a period of heightened compliance requirements—an environment in which offerings related to private AI and hybrid data infrastructures are gaining strategic importance.

By consolidating Southern, Central, and Eastern Europe under a single management structure, the company is also creating an organizational foundation to better coordinate resources and market development.
